Plenty of PC players are very adept at playing on keyboard, and those who play at tournaments usually use whats called a hitbox or a mixbox. It's whatever works best for an individual. But people play well on all types of things, most pros play on arcade sticks but a few years back Louffy won EVO with a PS1 pad. In fact fighting games are generally designed to be played on an arcade cabinet, it just happens that we dont have those much over in here in the west, so an arcade stick would theoretically be best. As for "Gamepad", its just the generic name for a controller, i wasnt suggesting a generic logitech or some controller like that.Īs for fighting games, like I said, you can use whatever you want, but D-pads are not objectively a better input device. If that doesnt matter to you, than use whatever you want, but your first comment literally said that there is no difference, which is factually false. It has nothing to do what kind of controller you use, its not going to be as precise or as fast to aim in FPS. I want a controller, not just any cheap game pad, but a quality controller. If it's Postal 2, or a Halo game, I need a controller. I did the same on Enemy Territories: Quake Wars. When I played Quake Live, I would use the keyboard, and mouse. I'm saying that playing any console emulated games with a controller is much better than a keyboard. It's easier to do special moves, and memorize face buttons. Sometimes, it messes things up, so I turn it off.ĭ-pad does the best for fighters, at least when I play them. It's better overall multiple actions, and comfort. I prefer to switch hand position to a controller. I know there's a difference, but I'm lazy with moving the mouse around to aim. It beats the original for durability, and the d-pad. The 360 one has blue lights under the clear plastic. I use one of the best possible third-party 360 controllers. Especially in "old school" fps like quake or something where B-hopping is basically a requirement, which you physically can't do on a pad because it requires pressing face buttons and controlling both analog sticks. I'm sure keyboard is clunky for many games, but that doesn't seem relevant to FPS games like we were talking about. As long as it works for you and you can press all the button combinations you need to.Īs for thrill kill, of course you want to play emulated games on a pad, but what exactly does one obscure game prove? Just doesn't seem relevant.
Many people can't tell the difference because they've never played an FPS without gamepad aim assist.įighting games are a preference (pad, arcade stick, keyboard, hitbox, ect) I personally use an arcade stick, but you can use WASD and some modded toasters as buttons if you really want. Or if your prideful, just Google it lol, trust me there's a difference, and it's huge. If you want to see the difference, pm me and we can play CSGO or any fps game without gamepad aim assist really, me on keyboard and you on pad. Mouse and keyboard is objectively the best way to play fps games because there's no precision on a gamepad, hence why there's aim assist on a game pads and why all competitive PC fps players play on mouse.
