Whilst you're absolutely correct about this, it defeats the reason I would want it (not the general case). Regarding the above and a comment by /u/quemius about adding my own content into HL to keep costs low and only buying what I need. I have already spent a fair amount on Paizo products especially and the thought of re-buying content in a different package though understandable in context is not something I think I'm prepared to do right now. It costs a lot of money if you want to buy all the packages to increase its capability. Thank you all again for your advice and experiences with Hero Lab, there are a lot of well reasoned arguments for both opinions below but, on balance I think I'll rely on my own tools instead of buying HL for which I reason below.
